Who is Cristina White?

Welcome!

I’m so glad you’re here…

My creative practice centers on the concept of structural rewrite—how forms break down under pressure, adapt, and eventually re-anchor themselves. This inquiry is personal. As a Navy veteran, a mother of three, and someone whose body has survived six major hip surgeries and seventeen joint dislocations, I have spent over a decade intimately negotiating with physical limitation and resilience. My art is the tangible outcome of that negotiation, utilizing sculpture to translate years of physical containment into a broader exploration of alchemy and endurance.

I work intuitively, refusing to restrict my concepts to a single medium. Instead, I am drawn to stubborn, elemental materials that require a profound transition to find their form: wood, glass, ceramics, and metals. There is a specific dialogue within each medium that mirrors my own trajectory. Wood holds the weathered memory of organic time; metals demand force to bend without snapping; glass and clay require the complete surrender of fire to lock into structural clarity.

Manipulating these raw materials serves as a grounding mechanism, allowing me to distill vast, abstract visions into a heavy, physical presence.

Ultimately, my sculptures balance the heavy and the fragile. By forcing industrial metals or weathered wood to coexist with light-yielding mediums like glass, I capture the friction where vulnerability and absolute strength meet.

My work does not dwell on the trauma of the fracture; rather, it honors the architecture of the repair. It stands as an invitation to look past the surface of scar tissue and structural disruption, revealing the resilient, luminous blueprint that endures.

Keep your gaze fixed on the horizon of the unknown.
